Journey to Cairo City

After the Alexandria visit, we the headed to the capital of Egypt, Cairo.
We went there by a tourist bus, and I snapped everything that I find it interesting.
On our way to the big city of Cairo!
*2 shots above are taken by Lomo LCA+ Camera.
Here started the long long highway, I shoot as we move along,
I didnt even know where were we, but I could totally see how some of their people live in the wild wide dry sandy big dessert.
It was dried and the houses were even unfinished.
However I still could the the TV satelite.
Surprising!
The beauty of Egypt is still the bright blue sky with the least clouds floating around.
After the 3 hours' journey from Alexandria.
Maybe not many people know that the 3 biggest and most famous pyramids could be seen from the road in the town, but here are they... Clearly seen from the road.
Now let's observe the Faces of Cairo.
Starting with their life style,
With how they earn for their living.
For them,
Not every kids has an opportunity to go to school.
Here are some shots of some poor and rich sides of Cairo,
River was polluted.
Buildings are quite old, but some of them are rich too.
Here are shots of the rich sides of City Cairo.
Cairo is a pretty city.
The is the Cairo Tower, and the world famous Nile River.
Taxis in Cairo city are painted in black and white,
whilst taxis in Alexandria are painted in black and yellow.
And they have several types of transportation,
Cars of course.
And animals like Camels, donkeys, and horses that are still widely use as either transportation or tourist attraction purposes.
Huh~~~ What a nice country to visit.

A Good Morning in Alexandria

Good Morning Alexandria, the 2nd day I was in Egypt.

Haaa... once thinking of the beautiful night view from my room balcony last night.
I could see the Montazah Palace!
*Shot taken by Lomo Horizon camera.
I just couldn't believe that the next morning were telling me another wonderful story of the view.
Nice~~~~~~~~~~~~!!!
*4 Shots above taken by Konica WaiWai.
Not just the cool view from balcony that is nice.
The swimming pool, the sandy beach bay, the place of having breakfast there.
Everything is just more than PERFECT!

It is the 5 Stars Helnan Palestine Hotel, which located at part of the garden of Montazah Palace.

And YES! We're lucky to have an opportunity to get closer to the Montazah palace.
But not as close, just at the entrance gate.
Beautiful huh? We only had 10minutes for photo shooting there, it was a rush!

Fortress of Kaitbay, Alexandria

Another place to visit in Alexandria,
It was our 2 days tour only,
But there are so much photos to share.
So this is the Fortress of Kaitbay.

This Fotress of Kaitbay is Alexandria's ancient lighthouse that was built in 279B.C. The term lighthouse has the meaning itself, but we do not see anby lighthouse there. The reason is, it was already detroyed by a disaster happened long time ago.
Standing on top of this castle, is bearth-taking overviewing the beautiful Mediteranean Sea.
And the overlooking at the whole city of Alexandria.

The dinner on that night.

And this is the best hotel with the best balcony view.
Good night, and we were heading to Cairo the next morning.

*more coming up.

The Roman Amphitheatre; Alexandria

This is the Roman Amphitheatre in Alexandria.
The name of this place clearly explained who built this place.

*Shot taken by Lomo Horizon Camera.

*Shot taken by Lomo Horizon Camera.
Yes, the Romans.
We were allowed to be here for only 20minutes.
So not much shots were taken.

*Shot taken by LCA+ Camera.

*Shot taken by LCA+ Camera.
This place is made up of 12rows of Semi-circle marble seats, galleries and mosaic flooring.
Usually this is the way Romans build.

Here are some other pictures shots by digital camera.

The map and some interested story there.
I didn't read them all, because I have no time for shooting.

Really not much time at all, what you've seen here are just 10% of the place.
It was a beautiful place though.
Representing more on the Greek Romans compared to Egyptians. =)

*More coming up soon.

The Pompey's Pillar; Alexandria

The very first site visiting we touched down is this...
So here I'm showing some pictures that shot by my LCA+
The Pompey's Pillar.
Or some people would prefer the so-called column of Pompeius.
Depends on which one you would prefer to read.

Pompey's Pillar,
I'm talking about the pillar, not the sphinx.
It's a massive 25meters (82ft) tall;
Made from one piece of super hard red granite;
Measuring 9meters (30ft) around its grit.

We were quite worry about the army at first, they were everywhere!

It was so huge, and so beautiful of course.
Let's move closer to the pillar.

Ah Hah!! And this classic wooden chair for the security was placed right at the side of the huge Pompey's pillar.
Well, he's got his job on duty.

This is a shot taken by Horizon Camera.
Notice the size of the base of the pillar is so much bigger compared with a person standing there.

Here are some shots taken by a digital camera.
Yes, it looks normal from far.

I'm saying that there was just a pillar,
There are quite some numbers of Sphinx too.
This is the best shot suggested from the security guard,
as he was giving a signal of tipping him @@ "Thank you!"

That is a statue of a scarab.
If you've seen a movie "The Mummy",
then you'll understand what a scarab means in Egypt.
"Life after death".
They believe that as luck.

As far as I understand from our tour guide,
This place used to be a famous huge temple in Alexandria.
However, what we see today is what was left.
This picture, is a big swimming pool with something like jacuzzi.

And in ancient time, they named it "PISCINA".

We could still see the staircase to the underground of the temple.

And some other broken stones that has been discovered.

Modern Engineers are still working on this site, rebuilding the temple.
Anyway, the making such a huge pillar using unknown engineering work back in more than 5000years ago. I wonder how they do that.
