So much to tell; Where I used to ... ... ; Kota Bharu

3400-H, Jalan Zainal Abidin,
15050, Kota Bharu,
Kelantan Darul Naim.


That's my home, my old house.
The whole building used to be my grand-grandparents' one,
I, used to live on the 3rd floor.
2nd floor was for rental, Mezzanine and Ground floor was Vegetarian Restaurant and Office.
Believe me or not, I had never before taken a single picture of me and my house like this before.
This is the only and the first shot of me and my house ever,
And it's never anymore my house now.


There was some strong kind of feeling when I was there to take all these pictures.
I started thinking back all what me and my brothers used to do here,
I mean 'here' as in the picture where I am squatting.
More than just 15years since I was born,
What is flashing back right in front here were...
My eldest brother skateboarding, and got on newspaper when he was 7.
My youngest brother fell backward and broke his head when he was 3 or 4.
Brothers used to play and fight with lots of malays kids too.
etc.


Now the whole building is sold for bird nest business purposes.


Whenever I was back in Kota Bharu,
So far, I haven't missed a time to come to the Buddhist Association for a little visit,
and also for prayer and some offerings.
This is also a place where I used to attend my Buddhist Class every weekend.



Then I kept walking down the lane of my childhood,
to where I used to be a lot and a lot and a lot,
Like everyday's activity that time, before computer and lomo came to my world.


Until this lane, where I used to buy milo ice-dream with just 10cents.

I still remember the short cut to my 2nd Aunt's house, a narrow dirty short cut,
from the side of this Malay House... ...


Will actually lead till here, straight to my Aunt's 1st house,
and here was used to have many hens and chicks,
where me and my brothers and cousins like to 抓小鸡。
We just couldn't resist to do that everyday, for nothing indeed.

Instead of using the short cut this time,
Or should I say, I am not small enough for the short cut.
So, we used the 'long cut', Haha!

The size of my body has grown up so much, now I could touch the tree.
From before Digital Camera came to my world too... ...


... ...until 2008 where photo colors is so contrasted nowadays,
Still there are nothing's been changed here, nothing at all.
Not even the smell of this lane and everything.


The holes one the lane, bumbs, etc.
I could still walk without concentrating the damages on the road,
I could avoid those holes without remembering them, easily.
'Dang', nothing at all had been changed.
Still feel like home.


This is my aunt's 2nd house,
But now it's somebody else house,
I am not sure malay or chinese.
There are lots of memory in this place too,
Childhood story is just too much to tell.


The adventurous "Haunted House",
where me and my cousin did actually been inside.
And now...
It's finally collapsed, no more hauted house.


Saw a school van there?


Living in the same area, there is still somebody who I wouldn't forget.
Somebody who lives there since I was small too.
She is not my relative, but sort of someone close.
My school van driver, Aunty Chin!
I couldn't believe she is still staying there in the same house,
I was just passing by and saw the van.
So I just shouted her name as I was passing by,
since the door is closed.
But there was an answer, and he husband came out first,
thought I was a stranger and reacted not friendly to me.
However, after one word of my name "Hooi" was mentioned to him,
both of them got shocked too that I was there.

It was a great trip back to my hometown this time,
It is very memorable,
What so special is... ...
Not much things that is changed.
Still feels like home,
Home sweet home.

Happy Birthday

It's today, and it's my father's birthday.
The picture above is not me, not my brother, but my super daddy.
It was him flying with his bike in 1970s.
This photo is invaluable but precious, and treasures;
just how how he is made and meant to us all the while.
Impressive shot, I never had any of a stunt photo that looks cooler than this.

I knew this is his favorite piece of all time, and the only one,
So this year, I have this idea where to put this photo printed on a shirt,
And give him as his birthday present.

Thanks to Jeffcwk who helped me on the design and editing of my idea,
It was all done within a day.
And my dad love that shirt very very much when he got his present.

Visit TakBai & Narathiwat

During our Kota Bharu visit, my grandma decided to bring us to Takbai (Boarder of Malaysia and Thailand), to visit my grand-aunt who lives there since I was young.

Security and Immigration Gate.
We are so excited to visit our relative just across the river.

We had our breakfast at Capital Restaurant.
Used to be very classical and oldie original interior, where was exactly opposite of where its current location now.
What's nice? The Beef Soup Noodle, is delicious of course, and slurpy, and satisfactory, and MMmmmMMmmm~~~!

The Departure from Malaysia and the Arrival in Thailand, within 5minutes.

Upon the arrival in TakBai, we first came to my grand-aunt's house.

Her house is joint of 2 houses, so it's super HUGE.
I can say it's 60-70m long and 40m wide... seriously like a motel.
I didn't count how many rooms are there, but definitely more than 10.

Her doggy, I forgot its name. PeePee or something, it's thai name.

She works all by herself since she was 20years old plus, as a hotel manager.

One of a living hall in her house is also her working office.
Now you guys know why she owns 2 Hotels and a Lagoon Resort.

This is a very special living room, everything still remain unchanged.

I used to come to her house once, with my parents when I was 10 years old or something like that. The living room used to be so crowded and noisy, all other relative from Bangkok were here gathering. It could be during Chinese New Year, I just can't remember.
What are still flashing in my mind now is that I was so small until I could squeeze and roll myself on from the front to the back of this sofa, like "Sotong Kapit Bakar".

My grand-aunt then offered us to go further up to Narathiwat, she said she is free that day, and there would be an street exhibition too.

But it was Sunday, the town was very quiet.
There were soldiers everywhere for terrorist security force,
feel quite scary because there were bombing cases there recently.

We were early, the exhibition starts at 1pm.

So grand-aunt brought us the a restaurant to have some thai snacks.
Seriously, no English at all... I don't think it's a good idea to go by myself.

Thai snaks??? But we were so so full after so many snacks, we took them like our lunch.
Eventually, we skipped our lunch.


Still early, exhibition still had not started.
It was a beautiful sunny day though.


No worries... She knows what to do.
There are more than just place to visit.


This is where I have not been before.
It is my grand-grandma and my grand-grandpa's tombstone, in their own coconut farm.
It was my first time visit their tombstone, because I didn't even have a chance to come during very year's Ching Beng. It is really huge too, designed by pure Chinese, crafted with a beautiful poem started with their names. Wow... it's amazing.

After all the visits,
She finally brought us to her TakBai Lagoon.


How beautiful is the view.


There, she treated us her very own secret recipe.
Big, thin, stuffy, and yummy.
I can only name it "My Grand-Aunt's Poppia", Haha~!!!

I know I do not tell a good story about why TakBai and my grand-aunt is so special to me, I can't really explain much, they are just special to me.
I was really glad to see my grand-aunt again, and was happy to visit TakBai this time.
I just feel like everything is so memorable.
